Becoming An Online Success

Wanting to know what it really takes to be an online success? Here are six keys to succeeding online that everyone needs to know!

Six Keys To Succeeding Online

Of all the questions I am asked there is one that stands out above the rest.

That question is …

What are the real keys to succeeding online?

That’s a good question, and one that deserves an honest answer.

Before I share my answer, let me share this. I truly believe that anyone, anywhere, can succeed online if they do three things.

  1. Understand the difference between building a business and making short term money.
  2. Set goals that are big but achievable and are patient.
  3. Follow a proven process and avoid just do what I do products.

With that foundation, here are six keys to succeeding online in my view.

What follows is based on my own experience.

  • The experience of going from having $17 in the bank to where I am today.
  • The experience of serving over 21,000 paying members.
  • The experience of prospering in spite of illness.
  • I hope what follows means as much to you and your family as it has to mine.

I think Zig Ziglar said it best …

“Winning is not an accident. It is the result of planning and hard work. In order to succeed you have to plan to win, you have to prepare to win and then (and only then) can you reasonably expect to win.”

Notice that sequence, because it is very important.

  • Plan to win.
  • Prepare to win.
  • Expect to win.

Much more about these topics soon. For now, here are the keys to succeeding online in my view.

Key 1 – A Proven Model

Many people don’t take the time to think about which business model they will adopt before trying to make money online.

But this choice is a vital one.

You would not borrow $100,000 to start an offline business and not care which business you started.

If you risked your life savings, or went into debt, you would be sure to know just what you were doing, and how you were going to do it.

There is no difference with an online business.

For many, working from home is a challenging endeavor. It’s not all pajamas and sleeping in late, no matter what your friends think! If anything, it’s long nights and stress, stress, stress! Here are some tips to help you succeed when you are working from home.

How To Succeed At Working From Home

When people think about working from home, many imagine sleeping in late, lounging around in their pajamas and long leisurely lunches.

“But what people need to realize is that even though working from home offers a great amount of flexibility, it is still a professional job and it needs to be treated as such,” says Holly Reisem Hanna, the founder of The Work at Home Woman, an award-winning blog dedicated to helping women and moms fulfill their dreams of working from home or becoming self-employed.

“Individuals need to learn best work at home practices, like setting office hours, having a dedicated office space, avoiding home-bound distractions, and actually dressing as if you were going to an office,” she says. “This will help keep your mindset sharp and focused.”

I can vouch for that. I’m working from home today and it’s no easy feat. I woke up, got dressed, powered on my laptop, and got to work—but I’ve found that it’s sometimes difficult to stay focused with so many distractions and temptations around me.

I only work from home under special circumstances—maybe five or six times a year—but some do it more frequently, and others work out of their homes permanently. It’s not for everyone, though, and some do it more successfully than others.

If you’re looking for help and direction succeeding, look no further than Zig Ziglar. The man who helped millions succeed can help you succeed too!

Zig Ziglar: See You At the Top

After a bumpy start, Ziglar built a wildly successful career in sales. But the more he learned about selling and personal achievement, the more interested he became in motivational speaking.

He wanted to help others attain the success he enjoyed. In 1970, while in his early 40s, Ziglar made a career shift and began to speak full time.

Since then, he has engaged thousands of audiences and sold millions of books and audio programs, including the best-selling See You at the Top: 25th Anniversary Edition, which sold more than 1.5 million copies, and the audio program How to Stay Motivated.

Exactly how many lives has the 83-year-old Ziglar touched? “We began counting the number of people Zig has impacted and had to stop at 25.5 million people,” says a spokesperson with the Zig Ziglar Corporation.

With his unique cadence and strong Southern drawl, Ziglar admonishes people to be specific about what they want to achieve, to be purposeful in their approach to personal development, and to help as many others as possible along the way.

And though he is a dyed-in-the-wool believer in the power of positive thinking, there is nothing secret about his philosophy on achieving success.

“Positive thinking won’t let you do anything,” Ziglar says. “But it will help you do everything better than negative thinking will.” His constant message is that success requires full engagement and hard work. When combined with an unshakable positive attitude and character, success is inevitable. Here are a few more of Ziglar’s tried-and-true strategies.

Live a Balanced, Focused Life

Success is never about acquiring what you want in one area of life, but in every area of life. Reminiscent of I Corinthians 13, Ziglar asks audiences to consider the fallacy of one-sided success. Take a moment and ask yourself these questions:

  • If I earn millions of dollars, but destroy my health in the process, is that success?
  • If I become the best in my industry, but neglect my family and friends, is that success?
  • If I acquire great wealth and notoriety, but compromise my integrity and faith to do so, is that success?

The obvious answer to each of these questions is “no.” Success isn’t one-sided. Our achievements aren’t fulfilling when we neglect or destroy our relationships, health or faith.
